Man, 19, found shot to death in Newark neighborhood

NEWARK (WABC) -- Police are investigating a murder in Newark after a man was shot to death early Saturday.

Authorities say police responded to a report of shots fired and found 19-year old Shyheim Rawls of Newark shortly before 1 a.m. in the 100 block of Avon Avenue.

He was taken to a hospital, but died there a short time later.

No other injuries were reported in the incident. Further details on the shooting were not disclosed, including how many assailants may have been involved or what type of weapon was used.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
