4-alarm fire burns through mansion in Rumson, New Jersey

RUMSON (WABC) -- Firefighters battled a fierce fire Wednesday afternoon at a mansion in Monmouth County, N.J.

The four-alarm blaze broke out at about 12:30 p.m. on Buena Vista Avenue in Rumson.

With flames shooting out of the roof, firefighters rushed in to try to knock down the fire from the inside.

The fire was so intense at one point that they were ordered to leave.

No one was seriously hurt, but the home suffered heavy damage.

The mansion was in the process of being decorated for a Visiting Nurse Association charity event due to open on Sunday.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
