NEW YORK (WABC) -- The wind likely caused a scaffolding accident near the Brooklyn Bridge Wednesday.

The scaffolding is now dangling dangerously over the top of a building forcing street closures.

The scaffolding is on top of a vacant building on Pearl Street in Downtown Brooklyn.

Inspectors with the Department of Buildings are there with a crane.

The scaffolding is now temporarily secured with rope until it can be removed.

The Sands Street access to the Brooklyn Bridge is closed and Sands Street from Pearl Street to Jay Street is closed.
