BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for the same suspect in two separate muggings in the Cypress Hills area.

On April 14 at 9 p.m., the suspect approached a 72-year-old woman from behind near Atlantic Avenue and Linwood Street. He then stole her purse, which had cash and credit cards inside, pushing the victim to the ground and fleeing, according to the New York City Police Department.

At 6 p.m. on April 21, police said the same suspect armed with a knife approached a 64-year-old woman near Atlantic Avenue and Linwood Street, and asked her if she had any money. He then punched her in the side of the head and attempted to stab her with the knife, police said.

The victim was slashed on her hand, then fled the scene empty handed. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital where she was treated and released.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 800-577-TIPS.
