STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- The FDNY reports that there was an electrical fire near St. John's University on Staten Island.

Con Edison says it appears lightning struck a transformer at the top of a utility pole outside a campus library. Initial reports indicated there was an explosion inside the library, however the FDNY says it put out the fire on the transformer and says there was no fire in the library.

Crews remain on the scene looking into what happened.

No injuries or evacuations were reported.
