Police make arrest in beating of teen on subway train in Brooklyn

EAST NEW YORK (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest after a 15-year old boy was beaten and robbed in an apparent gang assault in Brooklyn.

15-year old Brandon Parchment of Queens was arrested on robbery charges.

The teen was jumped after getting on a Canarsie-bound L train in East New York Friday afternoon.

According to police, a group of approximately five male suspects approached a 16-year-old male victim and asked him, "What gang are you in?".

When the victim said he was not in a gang, the group started to punch and kick the victim about the face and body.

He tried to escape his attackers at the next step.

Police say that's where he was brutally beaten and robbed of his pants, shoes and cell phone before being dragged back onto the train.

The boy was treated at the hospital for a concussion and a severe injury to his eye.
