7 firefighters injured in house fire in Soundview section of the Bronx

SOUNDVIEW (WABC) -- Eight people, including seven firefighters, were injured Sunday morning when flames tore through a home in the Bronx.

The fire started just before 6:30 a.m. on Thieriot Avenue in the Soundview section.

Seven firefighters and one civilian were treated for minor injuries.

Six of the firefighters and the civilian were taken to area hospitals, while the other firefighter refused medical attention and did not need hospitalization.

More than 100 firefighters responded to the scene and were able to get the fire under control.

There is no word yet on the cause of the blaze.
