Suspect sought after tourist randomly slashed on Brooklyn subway train

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- Police have arrested a man they say randomly attacked a woman on a subway in Brooklyn Monday evening.

The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. aboard a southbound A train that was stopped at the Euclid Avenue and Pitken Avenue station.

Authorities say the man slashed the neck of a 29-year-old woman who was a tourist visiting from Sweden and on the way to Kennedy Airport at the time.

Sources say the attack appears completely random and that the woman has no connection with the suspect.

The man fled from the train and out of the station in an unknown direction.

The victim sustained a non-life threatening laceration to her neck and was treated and released at Jamaica Hospital.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Don Carter, who has at least 50 prior arrests, with at least nine for possession of a knife or blade.

Detectives picked up Carter earlier after receiving a tip.

The victim was expected to pick him out of a lineup and the fly home.
