RIVERHEAD, Suffolk County (WABC) -- A 77-year-old Coram man was found guilty Monday of the rape and sexual abuse of a teenage girl.
The jury in Riverhead deliberated for about an hour before convicting Felix Mora of rape, criminal sexual act, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
The abuse spanned from the summer of 2014 to September of 2016, when the victim told a friend about the encounters with Mora. A police investigation began, and Mora was subsequently arrested on September 27, 2016.
"Mora manipulated this young woman and used intimidation to control her during the years of abuse she endured," Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said. "The forensic analysis by the Suffolk County Crime Lab established a match between Mora's DNA and evidence recovered from the victim's underwear."
Mora was found guilty of all six charges in the indictment.
Mora will be sentenced on July 28. He faces up to 18 years in prison, and Spota plans to recommend the maximum sentence.
