2 people seriously hurt in multi-car crash in Fort Greene, Brooklyn

FORT GREENE (WABC) -- A crash in Brooklyn early Sunday left two people seriously hurt.

It happened just before 2 a.m. on Cumberland Street and Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene.

Police say the multi-car accident started when the driver of an SUV ran a red light, hitting a smart car.

The SUV then hit at least four more cars and a motorcycle.

A 29-year old man and a 35-year old woman are being treated for serious injuries at New York Methodist Hospital.

The driver of the smart car is expected to be ok.
