Man steals bulldozer; takes down house and cars

NEWCASTLE, Australia -- Several people had to scramble for safety when officials say a man driving a stolen bulldozer demolished their home.

Police in Newcastle, Australia say that three people managed to escape unharmed just seconds before the house was destroyed by the the bulldozer.

Authorities are expected to charge a 48-year-old man who they say was behind the wheel. He's accused of crushing four cars as well.

New South Wales State Police inspector David Matthews says the rampage ended when police officers smashed into the bulldozer cabin and used pepper spray to subdue the driver.

There's no word on what sparked the man's destructive driving.
