NEW YORK (WABC) -- Mayor Bill de Blasio gave a hero's welcome Friday to a worker from a kosher market in Paris who helped others during a deadly terror attack.

Mayor de Blasio met with Lassana Bathily at a mosque in Brighton Beach.

Bathily risked his own life to save shoppers when the Parisian market came under siege by Islamic terrorists in January.

Bathily is a Muslim who immigrated to France from Mali.
