8 people shot across 4 boroughs in violent night in NYC

NEW YORK (WABC) -- It was a violent Sunday night across New York City, as eight people were shot in four boroughs, within just three hours.

In Queens, two women and a man were shot just before 10:45 p.m. during a barbecue at 153-33 118th Avenue in South Jamaica.

The two women - ages 27 and 29 - were both shot in the legs. A 36-year-old man was shot in the back.

All three were taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.

Two more men were shot at 91-66 110th Street, near Atlantic Avenue, in Richmond Hill at 11:10 p.m.

One, age 21, was shot in the chest and the other man was shot in the left leg.

The man shot in the chest was in critical condition at Jamaica Hospital, and the other man was stable.

On Staten Island, a 25-year-old man was shot in the back of the head as he sat in a parked car in front of 16 Prince Street, near Vanderbilt Avenue, in the Clifton section just after 11:15 p.m.

He was rushed to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition.

In Brooklyn, 19-year-old Rashasheed Stallworth was shot in the neck around 8:40 p.m. at the Howard Houses at 300 Mother Gaston Boulevard in Brownsville.

He was listed in serious condition at Brookdale University Hospital. Fortunately the bullet did not sever his spine and missed his major arteries. He is communicating with a pen and paper and remains in Intensive Care.

The victim's cousin said that the gunshots seemed to come from the sidewalk and that his cousin was not the intended target.

Housing officers patrolled the grounds, but residents are calling for commanders to do more.

"we have to walk around here like we are living in fear and I don't think it's right," said Barbara Hargraves, a resident.

Meantime in East Harlem, a 25-year-old man was shot in the stomach at First Avenue and East 112th Street just before 9:30 a.m.
