FLORAL PARK (WABC) -- Nassau County police are seeking a suspect who stole a car and crashed it into a garage minutes later in Floral Park Sunday.

A 33-year-old man was sitting in his parked car, a white 2014 Chevy Equinox, in Valley Stream when an unknown man entered the passenger's side of his vehicle, police said. The two men then started to argue and exited the vehicle. As the argument continued, the suspect pointed a knife at the owner, then ran back to the vehicle and drove away, according to police.

Within minutes, it was reported that the vehicle was involved in an accident in Floral Park. The car crashed through a fence and into a garage, but no injuries were reported. The suspect was not being pursued at the time of the accident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 40 to 45 years old, 5-foot-11 inches and 200 pounds. Police say the suspect also has an unkempt beard and possible dreadlocks, and was wearing a black jacket and black hat.

Anyone with information regarding this crime can contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
