Hate crime a possible motive in attack in Williamsburg section of Brooklyn

WILLIAMSBURG, N.Y. (WABC) -- An attack on a man in Brooklyn is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

The New York City Police Department said the incident happened at about 11:15 p.m. Monday near the intersection of White Avenue and Wilson Street in Williamsburg. According to investigators, a man and a woman struck a 65-year-old man five or six times with an object. The type of object was not known.

The attackers then left the area.

The NYPD said no words were exchanged between the victim and his attackers. Police did not reveal more information about why this might be considered a hate crime.

There's no word on the victim's condition.
