5-year old girl drowns in backyard pool in Islip

ISLIP (WABC) -- Suffolk County Police are investigating the drowning death of a 5-year-old girl in Islip Saturday night.

Officers responded to the home located at 51 Columbine Ave. at approximately 7:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a child was found unresponsive in the backyard pool.

The child, Carissa Walker, of Farmingville, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing.
