Police: Homeless man attacks tourist with piece of wood outside Midtown hotel

MIDTOWN (WABC) -- Police say a homeless man attacked a tourist with a piece of wood outside a Midtown hotel, in an apparently random and unprovoked attack.

The 51-year-old victim from China suffered a broken nose. Police say he was assaulted Saturday morning with a 2 x 4 piece of wood in front of the Grand Hyatt, next to Grand Central Terminal.

Police arrested 40-year-old John Addis immediately after the attack. He is charged with assault and weapon possession.

Police say this is Addis' third arrest in the past 5 months for assaulting people.
