Police search for trespassing suspect who escaped custody in East Harlem

EAST HARLEM -- Police are searching for a man who escaped after being taken into police custody in East Harlem.

25-year old Austin Stevenson was arrested for trespassing early Sunday morning.

Police say he was handcuffed when he shoved the officer leading him toward the 23rd precinct station house, knocking the officer to the ground and taking off.

There is a large police presence in the area searching for Stevenson after he was seen heading north toward East 104th Street and Lexington Avenue.

He was wearing gray pants and a black T-shirt when he escaped.
