Just before 3 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to Mount Pleasant Cemetery at 375 Broadway on reports of a burglary.

Police say the officers met with the manager who stated that one of the mausoleums on the grounds had been burglarized. Someone had forced open a casket and removed human remains from within.

According to police, the mausoleum dates back to the 1940's, and there have been prior incidents of thefts of remains here since the cemetery opened.
