NYPD: Suspect wanted in attempted rape in Cobble Hill

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for a man in an attempted rape in Cobble Hill.

At 5 a.m. Tuesday, the suspect approached a 45-year-old woman sitting on a bench on Smith Street. The suspect offered to buy the victim a soda and cigarettes.

They walked to a Rite Aid on Court Street and purchased the items, then the suspect attempted to rape the victim near Pacific and Court streets.

According to the New York City Police Department, he tried to choke the victim with a black video cord and tried to cut off her clothing with a knife. The victim screamed and the suspect fled.

The subject is described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 4 inches, and about 30 years old. He was wearing a black leather vest with studs on the back, a light-colored shirt, dark colored jeans and black cowboy

boots.
