Acid spill on container ship in Newark

NEWARK (WABC) -- An unknown amount of hydrochloric acid spilled on the deck of container ship MSC Marta, which was heading to Port Newark when the crew reported a leaking container.

Authorities have responded to clean up the ethanol mixture. The crew contained the leak on board, and none of the liquid spilled into the water.

There were no immediate injuries. The MSC Marta is registered in Panama.
