Boy in Brooklyn hit by car while riding bike

A boy, about 12, was struck at Dahill and Cortelyou roads in Brooklyn just before 7 a.m.

KENSINGTON, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A boy riding his bicycle to school was struck by a car in the Kensington section of Brooklyn Wednesday morning.

The boy, about 12, was struck at Dahill and Cortelyou roads just before 7 a.m.

He was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition with head injuries.

The boy, westbound on Cortelyou Road, was hit by a Lexus that was northbound on Dahill Road.

The 24-year-old driver of the Lexus stayed at the scene. There is no apparent criminality.

The boy was wearing a helmet at the time he was struck.

The crash is under investigation.
