HUNTS POINT (WABC) -- There are new calls for action after the murder of two livery cab drivers over the last seven days.
In both cases, the cars were stolen. Now, drivers are on edge and fearing for their safety.
One cabbie says he sometimes feels like a sitting duck with a target on his back every time he makes a pickup, because he just never knows what will happen.
Both were killed in the Bronx, and police are looking for suspects in both cases.
Police responding to a 911 call early Tuesday found 62-year-old Aboubacar Bah with a gunshot wound to the head in front of 735 Bryant Avenue in the Hunts Point section.
He was shot in the back of the head, his body dumped in the street. The vehicle was later recovered, but no suspects have been identified.
A week earlier, Maoudo Kane was found shot to death in the front yard of a home on Hunter Avenue in Co-Op City. His car was also stolen and later recovered near Yankee Stadium.
A this point, police do not believe there is a direct connection between the incidents, but Fernando Mateo, with the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, believes there may be a link between the two shootings.
On Wednesday, he met with NYPD Commissioner William Bratton to ask for increased security measures to help protect drivers.
"We have not seen this kindsof criminal activity, horrible murders, in our industry since '98," he said. "So we would like to implement a lot of the programs that we had back then and more."
In the area where Bah was killed Tuesday, there is surveillance video from a building showing three men running from the area around the same time the shooting happened.
Police believe these three individuals may be connected to the murder, but they aren't certain at this point.
There is a reward being offered in both cases for information that leads to arrests.
