Anthony Johnson reports on the crash of a car into a building in Red Bank.

RED BANK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Two people were injured when a car slammed into an office building in New Jersey Thursday morning.

The incident happened on Riverside Avenue in Red Bank around 10:30 a.m.

Red Bank police say a car traveling northbound on Route 35 left the roadway and struck a building that houses the VNA Health Group.

Responding officers had to extricate people trapped inside the car.

The male driver, in his 50s, and a female passenger in her 70s were hurt. They sustained non-life threatening injures and were transported to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

None of the employees inside the building was hurt. Authorities say VNA was already in the process of vacating the building permanently, so there was no one in that part of the building where the car struck.

There was considerable damage to the building, which had been deemed unsafe until engineers could ensure its structural stability. The vehicle was removed by mid afternoon.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
