COMMACK, Long Island (WABC) -- A Carvel ice cream store was robbed at knifepoint in Commack Tuesday night, and police have linked it to a string of incidents that have happened over the border in Nassau County.

Authorities say the suspect held up the store on Commack Road at around 9 p.m., displaying a knife and demanding cash from the clerk. The suspect fled with an unknown amount of money.

On Wednesday afternoon, Suffolk County Chief of Department Stu Cameron confirmed it is linked to at least 11 Nassau robberies, some of which have also occurred at Carvel locations.

Cameron said another robbery, on April 5 at a Carvel in Copiague, is also being looked at as possibly part of that same pattern.

No arrests have been made.

The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
