Corrections officer accused of having sex with inmate

OSSINING, N.Y. -- Authorities say a corrections officer in suburban New York has been charged with third-degree rape.

New York State police said 35-year-old Evita Hinds, of Queens, was arrested on Tuesday in Ossining.

Police say Hinds engaged in sexual intercourse with an inmate at Sing Sing Correctional Facility on May 30 while she was employed there.

Hinds was arraigned and released on her own recognizance. Her next court date is Dec. 1.
