Elderly woman killed in early morning house fire in Suffolk County

DEER PARK (WABC) -- An elderly woman was killed in a fire early Sunday morning at her home in Suffolk County.

The fire started just before 5 a.m. at the home on Pine Street in Deer Park.

Eleanor Didea, 81, who lives at the home, was found dead on the first floor.

Crews from several neighboring towns were called in to assist.

The home was destroyed.

A preliminary investigation has determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature.

The investigation is continuing.
