Fire in Jersey City spreads to 2 other buildings

JERSEY CITY, New Jersey (WABC) -- A fire in Jersey City was brought under control Saturday morning after spreading to two other buildings.



The three-alarm fire started around 9 a.m. at 193 Ege Ave., which is directly behind a Jersey City firehouse.



A firefighter on the scene confirmed that the fire from the initial building spread through the cockloft to two adjoining homes.



There were no known injuries. About 18 fire units and 60 firefighters responded.



The cause is unknown.



The American Red Cross is assisting three families displaced by the fire. Fifteen people in three families received Red Cross assistance. Volunteers remain available to the families for support.
