NYACK, New York (WABC) -- The Rockland County Health Department is alerting the public of possible Hepatitis A exposure at a restaurant in Nyack.

They say patrons and staff of La Fontana on 95 S Broadway could have been exposed between March 19th and April 1st after a food worker was diagnosed.

People who ate at the restaurant between March 29 and April 1 are eligible for the free vaccine by the health department. The rest fall outside of the two week window for effectiveness.

Sources say a bartender came back from a trip abroad infected with Hepatitis A.

Most young people (under 40) will not become symptomatic because of the vaccine they received as children. Older people and those with compromised immune systems may suffer flu-like symptoms.
