PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police say a man has been arrested on a murder charge and is accused of fatally stabbing his ex-wife's new girlfriend at her home in Brooklyn.

According to police, 35-year-old Alwasi Tyson repeatedly stabbed Toni Cox because he was angry she was dating his ex-wife.

Cox was found with multiple stab wounds in her sixth-floor apartment in her Prospect-Lefferts Gardens building Saturday morning.

She later died at the hospital. Tyson now faces several charges, including murder and weapons possession.

The building where the stabbing occurred is sometimes used to house homeless families.

The city pays the building's landlord to shelter homeless families alongside regular tenants.
