Man killed in hit-and-run in Queens

AUBURNDALE, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police are looking for a driver involved in a hit-and-run death in Queens around midnight.

On Wednesday, around 11:40 p.m. a 61-year-old man was hit on 46th Avenue, east of Utopia Parkway. He was found by police lying on the roadway, unconscious with severe head trauma. He had been crossing 46th Avenue, midblock, when he was struck by an unknown vehicle which then fled.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Flushing Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There is no description of the vehicle at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
