HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- A man was stabbed Wednesday night on a Harlem sidewalk and then decided to hop a subway train before getting help. He later died.

It happened just after 9 p.m. on the sidewalk outside the 116th Street Subway Station. The men, who apparently did not know each other, were talking when a dispute broke out. That's when one of the man stabbed the other with a knife.

The 53-year-old victim then fled underground and hopped on the subway and took it to 110th Street and Lenox Avenue.

It's not known why the victim decided to take the subway after being injured. It's also not yet known how he ended up getting help or who called 911.

The victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in critical condition where he later died.

So far, there are no arrests.
