MILL BASIN (WABC) -- Two people were killed and two others injured in a horrific crash in Brooklyn Monday evening.
The victims in the deadly crash in on Flatbush Avenue and Avenue U in Mill Basin have been identified, while the investigation has led police to say that speed was almost certainly a factor.
Eyewitnesses say the Nissan that sparked the crash was going 100 miles an hour or more when it smashed into a BMW that was making a turn onto Avenue U just before 7 p.m.
"The Maxima was flying down Flatbush Avenue, and (the BMW driver) was making a turn, and hit the jeep, bounced off the jeep and into a pole," witness Sammy Tee said. "Definately 100 or better. He was moving."
The tragedy was caught on a just-installed video surveillance camera.
The driver of the Nissan, 20-year-old Philbert Martin Williams, was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where he was pronounced died on arrival.
His passenger, 18-year-old Christina Wipper, died at the scene.
The two people in the BMW suffered only minor injuries. They were taken to Kings County Hospital.
