WEST BABYLON (WABC) -- More recruitment flyers for the Ku Klux Klan have turned up on Long Island.

The flyers, claiming to be from the KKK, were found outside homes in Rockville Centre and Wantagh.

In recent months, others flyers have turned up in Hampton Bays, West Babylon and Shirley.

The new flyers were dropped along Hempstead Avenue, near Lakeview Avenue, and about 10 to 12 were collected by police.

The Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Unit is investigating, but authorities say the recruitment flyers are freedom of speech and not being treated a crime.

They are looking to see if the new flyers are related to the previous distributions.

The earlier flyers appeared to be from the North Carolina-based Loyal White Knights branch of the KKK. They referred to the shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

Police say the leaflets included "racist messages" and listed a website and phone number.
