RIVERDALE (WABC) -- A New Jersey high school athlete is under arrest on rape charges.

Kevin Convery of Wyckoff, an 18-year old soccer player at Bergen Catholic High School, is accused of raping a freshman at Manhattan College in the Bronx.

Convery has been charged with 2 counts of rape, sexual abuse and sexual misconduct.

A law enforcement source says the suspect met the victim at an All-American Rejects concert at the school located on April 25th.

The two went back to her dorm room after the concert where she was forcibly raped, authorities say.

The suspect went to the Bronx Special Victims unit with his lawyer Tuesday morning for questioning and was arrested and charged there.

In a statement, a spokesman for Manhattan College said, "The incident was reported to the College the day it occurred. The college provided immediate assistance to the student who made the report and provided assistance to the student's family. Our immediate concern in such instances is the health and safety of the student and we continue to cooperate fully with the New York Police Department."

Convery was arraigned Tuesday night.

He was released on his own recognizance. He's due back in court on June 23rd.
