NORTH BERGEN (WABC) -- The search is on for the hit and run driver who left two brothers from Union City, New Jersey in critical condition.

Police say the driver jumped a curb along Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen, and struck 11-year-old Adrian Viruet and his 20-year old brother, Michael, who were walking home from the movies Friday night.

According to police the driver of a red Nissan Rogue with tinted windows came flying down the street and jumped the curb striking both brothers with a great deal of force.

The impact threw Adrian into a nearby fence where he remained pinned until medics arrived. Both were rushed to nearby hospitals.

The boys grandmother says the family is now splitting their time between hospitals, praying for their speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, police are now reviewing surveillance video and asking the public for help finding the driver who fled the scene. If you see a red Nissan rogue with heavy damage to the front passenger side and a missing front fender and headlight give authorities a call at (201)915-1300.

The vehicle was last seen near 21st Street and Kennedy Boulevard.
