NEW YORK (WABC) -- The NYPD is trying to combat campus sex crimes through art.

Monday night, the department honored the winners of its campus sexual assault poster contest.

The NYPD asked students to create posters that show their commitment to ending sexual assault on campus and encourage students to report sex crimes.

"It's a real important issue and I tried to pass it as clear as possible," said Lucas Rossi, an artist.

The NYPD is urging victims of sex crimes to speak with Special Victims Division detectives, even if they are unsure about pressing charges.
