Oakland fire helpline, information for families

OAKLAND, California -- Nine people have been confirmed dead and 25 have been unaccounted for after a three-alarm fire broke out inside a warehouse in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood late Friday night, an Oakland fire chief said.

There is a spreadsheet on Facebook where people are describing their loved ones and accounting for them if they are missing.

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau has established a Family Assistance Center with the American Red Cross at 2425 East 12th Street in Oakland. If you are trying to locate a loved one, you may go to the center or call 510-382-3000 for information.

There will be grief counseling and resources available to those affected by this tragedy.

The Alameda County Arson Task Force, Alameda County Sheriff's Coroner's Bureau and Chief Forensic Pathologist are processing the scene of the fire.

A Facebook page has been set up to help locate people who are unaccounted for.
