NEW YORK (WABC) -- A police officer's amazing rescue of an emotionally disturbed man on the Manhattan Bridge was caught on camera.
Officers responded to the Manhattan Bridge at 4:53 a.m. on Wednesday.
The officers spotted the 22-year-old man on the outermost ledge on the outside of the safety fence toward the Brooklyn side of the bridge.
ESU also responded and started to talk to the young man. While that conversation was going on, officers cut a hole in the fence so they could bring the man in from the ledge.
An officer climbed the fence to the other side and flanked the man. Officers bent the fence back, bringing the man and officer to safety.
Thanks to the heroic efforts of the officer, the man wasn't hurt and he was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. null
