PATERSON, New Jersey (WABC) -- Police are looking for four suspects wanted in connection with the robbery of a corner store in Paterson, and they're hoping surveillance video of the harrowing incident will lead to arrests.
The incident happened in the evening hours of May 26 at the Nickymania bodega on 4th Avenue.
The video shows the suspects milling about outside before entering the store and holding the 66-year-old owner and his brother at gunpoint.
That brother, Urbano Guzman (wearing the red shirt in the video), tells Eyewitness News that they didn't think the gun was real, but that they had no choice but to comply. Guzman said he picked up a bottle to smash over the suspects' heads, but then he saw one of them pull out a machete.
"I take it easy, because...he go like this (raises hand) with the machete," he said. "He (motioned) toward my brother and to me. I can do nothing else."
The suspects demanded cash and also made off with an empty safe.
"He told me, 'Give me all the money you have,'" Guzman said. "I don't have a lot of money. I gave him a couple dollars, like $50."
The suspects, who police consider armed and dangerous, then fled in what appeared to be a dark-colored older-model Audi station wagon.
Guzman and an area resident hopped in a car and gave chase, even going through a car wash, but they lost the suspects while attempting to contact Paterson police.
Anyone with information related to the incident or information as to the identity or whereabouts of any of the individuals responsible for this robbery is urged to contact the Paterson Police Department at 973-321-1120 or 973-523-TIPS.
