FLATBUSH (WABC) -- Police have identified a person of interest in the Brooklyn shooting that landed a 13-year-old boy in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

Detectives are seeking the whereabouts of 21-year-old Kareem Potomont, of East 18th Street. He is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

The gunfire erupted around noon Monday on Flatbush Avenue near Beverly Road in the Flatbush section. The victim, Gama Droiville, was caught in the crossfire as the alleged gunman fired shots at another man, who was struck in the leg.

Droivill, was waiting for the bus with his aunt and cousin outside of a pizza shop when the shots rang out. The aunt and cousin weren't harmed. In the seconds following the hail of gunfire, surveillance video shows mothers and small children running for their lives.

"I heard about 5 gunshots and at first I thought they were fake, then I saw everyone get on the ground, and so I hid under a chair," said eyewitness Souleyman Bah.

Droiville was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he is listed in serious but stable condition after undergoing surgery.

The boy was not the intended target. Instead, police say, the suspect was shooting at a 24-year-old man getting out of a cab. He was hit in the leg and is also being treated at Kings County Hospital.

The incident set off a panic in the neighborhood, as police descended on the scene.

The video shows the suspect running with a gun, wearing a black and white hooded sweatshirt with the word ROC printed on the front and back and the number 99 on both arms.

Sources tell Eyewitness News that the suspect is a member of a known street gang, and was involved in two previous shootings.
