NYPD: Suspect threatens girl in Bronx, tries to lure her to stairwell

BRONX, New York (WABC) -- Police are looking for a man who they said tried to lure a girl out of an elevator and into a stairwell in the Bronx.

According to the New York City Police Department, around 2:30 p.m. on July 25, at an apartment building near 175 Street and Walton Avenue, the suspect followed a 12-year-old girl into an elevator and threatened to harm her if she didn't follow him off the elevator into a stairway.

The victim refused, ran off the elevator and banged on the door to an apartment yelling for help, police said.

The suspect fled the location.

The individual is described as a 20-year-old black man with a slim build; he was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt and dark colored pants.
