Robbery of elderly woman in Bronx elevator caught on camera

MOUNT EDEN, Bronx (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspect who robbed an elderly woman in a Bronx elevator in an incident that was captured on surveillance video.

According to the NYPD, it happened Friday afternoon when the 81-year-old victim entered the elevator of a residential building in the vicinity of the Grand Concourse and Marcy Place.

She was followed by the suspect, who pretended to help her out of the elevator, then physically threatened her with an unknown object and forcibly removed $200 from her pocketbook before fleeing the scene, police said.

There were no reported injuries.

The NYPD described the suspect as: adult, male, black, approximately 5'10", 150lbs, salt and pepper goatee with a wrinkled complexion. He was last seen wearing black jeans, white sneakers, green jacket, blue hooded sweatshirt, black knit cap and a black backpack.
