Search for man who randomly stabbed little boy on Staten Island
Jim Dolan reports from Mariners Harbor.

MARINERS HARBOR (WABC) -- There's a desperate search for the man who stabbed a little boy in his head while walking to school.

Police and volunteers were passing out fliers on a bitterly cold Tuesday night in Mariners Harbor in Staten Island, looking for any information about this brutal attack by a madman that was caught on a surveillance camera.

The video is not clear as to whom the man is, but it is numbingly clear about what happened.

A 9-year-old boy is being stabbed repeatedly by an adult he has never seen before.

Remarkably, the child, Jermaine Culver, was not seriously hurt, but had stab wounds on his head, neck, and back. Somehow, he made his way back home.

The crime was so horrific; it mobilized the community to help the police.

Jermaine has been released now from the hospital, and is recovering.

The police know the image of the man who stabbed this 9-year-old child is not clear, but they are hoping maybe someone will overhear a suspicious conversation or even tell police about someone in the area who has behaved suspiciously around children in the past.

The police and the community are united in wanting to see this guy off the streets.
