Small plane lands safely on highway in Stafford Township, NJ

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP (WABC) -- A small plane made an emergency landing on a highway in southern New Jersey Sunday.

The plane landed safely shortly after 10 a.m. on Route 72 in Stafford Township, near a Home Depot.

There are no reports of any injuries.

Route 72, one of the main roads in the Ocean County community, leads to and from the Jersey Shore.

Officials say five people were aboard the plane, but their names have not been released.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the pilot to make the emergency landing. They say the investigation is ongoing.
