FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- The search for a missing mother from Queens ended with the recovery of her body from a lake, and now her son is charged with murder.

Out of the precinct, through the rain, and into the squad car, Roman Gorbunova walked out of the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills after investigators charged him with the killing.

According to the Queens District Attorney, the 21-year-old fatally beat his mother, Lyubov Gorbonova the night of September 27th after an argument. Investigators say the son placed his mother's lifeless body in a bag, ordered a car service to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, and then dumped her body into Willow Lake.

Saturday morning, after days of searching, NYPD scuba teams and K9 units found a bag containing human remains in the lake. It was a livery driver who provided the key tip. The driver told investigators he drove a man fitting Gorbunonva's description to that location, adding the suspect had a garbage can with him.

Police took Gorbunova into custody on Friday morning after surveillance video apparently captured him at his mother's Rego Park apartment building two days after she disappears. Investigators say the video shows him lugging a large garbage bag.

If convicted, Gorbunova faces 25 years to life in prison.
