GRAVESEND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An 18-year-old man was struck by a hit and run driver in Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon.

The victim was on a skateboard when he was hit by a White BMW X5 that fled the scene at Avenue T and W. 10th Street in Gravesend. While the initial impact was not necessarily life-threatening, the BMW then drove right over the skateboarder's body while driving away.

The teen was taken to Maimonides Hospital in critical condition, and he is now fighting for his life.

While the driver of the BMW did not stop, others driving by pulled over to help.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
