MANHATTAN, New York (WABC) -- Police are investigating the bizarre theft of more than $15,000 in Rogaine and other products from Duane Reade stores across Manhattan, and they're hoping surveillance images will lead to arrests.

The spree began on May 1 at a location on Amsterdam Avenue and has included at least 10 incidents in which suspects open a locked display case with a key and make off with items in bulk.

Items stolen include:

--Toothpaste

--More than 82 boxes of over-the-counter medication

--More than 44 boxes of Rogaine

--More than 54 boxes of Crest Whitening Strips

--Razors and razor blades

"It makes no sense," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said. "From time to time, we get these patterns of this stuff. Because we have good video, we put them out on the evening news, we generally have them identified in the next week. That will continue as long as we have the density of population in this city."

The first suspect is described as a black male in his mid 20s to mid 30, about 6-foot-3 with slim build and cornrows, last seen wearing a dark-colored sweater and a dark-colored baseball cap.

The second suspect is also described as a black male in his mid 20s to mid 30s, approximately 5-foot-9 with a slim build, last seen wearing a white and blue plaid shirt and a dark colored baseball cap.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
