Up Close: NYPD counterterrorism efforts

NEW YORK (WABC) -- ISIS is facing huge setbacks in Iraq, but making itself heard and felt despite the defeats through deadly attacks by small bands of terrorists aligned to ISIS.

The deadly suicide explosions at the airport in Istanbul, the assaults in a cafe in Bangladesh, suicide bombings at a shopping center in Baghdad, and attacks near a holy spot in Saudi Arabia.

We just celebrated America's independence from tyranny, and now we fight for independence from the tyranny of terrorists.

Joining us this week is NYPD Chief James Waters, the head of counterterrorism.

Also this week, the anti-Trump movement is hoping that come July 18th in Cleveland, the Republican National Convention will not actually nominate Donald Trump.

With us is a man helping to lead that charge, Steve Lonegan, a long-time veteran of New Jersey politics, and the former mayor of Bogota.
