Up Close: Peter King on radicalized Islamic extremists
Diana Williams interviews Peter King in segment 1 of 'Up Close'.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- This past week the Obama administration held a summit to address the issue of violent extremism.

The major concern is the rise of groups like ISIS, their recruiting practices, and getting global agreement on how to deal with terrorists.

President Obama says a big part in the fight against ISIS is stopping people from joining the terror group in the first place.

Long Island Congressman Peter King, back in 2011, held a series of hearings about radicalized Islamic extremists.

At the time he caught a lot of grief with many saying he was promoting Islamaphobia.

He joins "Up Close" from his office in Massapequa.

Also, seven years ago, it went by a different name "congestion pricing". The idea was to add an inner city toll in Manhattan and tolls at the East River bridges which right now are free to cross.

Under the Bloomberg administration, congestion pricing was a big flop, but now there's a move to bring it back with a new name and a new game plan.

Sam Schwartz, New York City's former Transportation Commissioner and guru of all modes of movement that involve getting around this city, joins "Up Close" for a discussion.

Finally, the Oscars are on Sunday.

It's a chance to see who wins, who loses, and get a look at what all the stars are wearing.

A lot goes into this big evening, and Eyewitness News Entertainment Reporter Sandy Kenyon is in Hollywood with a closer look.
